Classic Doljanchi (1st birthday party) for L in northern virginia


A first birthday or “Dohl” is a big deal in Korean culture. It celebrates the baby meeting the big milestone of turning one, but it also recognizes the hard work, love, and growth that the parents have gone through for the past year. During a Dohl, the child chooses an item from a collection of items symbolizing careers and hopes for the future (“doljabi”). It’s always fun to see what the baby chooses!


Maggiano's at Tysons Corner is known for their dark, moody wooden decor. Sometimes photographers shy away from booking event photography if the event space is dark, but using a flash with a diffuser, we were able to get some great photos that look regal and classy!
